Phoenix High School Phoenix-Talent Schools | Phoenix, OR

After successfully passing a bond, the Phoenix-Talent School District hired Arcadis and local partner ORW Architecture to complete the Educational Specifications, Master Plan, and Design of a major addition and renovation to Phoenix High School. IBI led the educational specifications and master planning process, working with the school’s design committee to develop the guiding principles and goals for a project that would transform their community. We developed a plan for community outreach including student and teacher shadowing, digital surveys, and community design workshops. We also organized tours of inspirational high school spaces throughout the state to help inspire the entire team. The master planning and schematic design documents provided by Arcadis were created only after thorough collaboration and exploration with the District and their community.

The Educational Specifications (Ed Specs) and master planning process was followed by the design and construction of a building that was almost completely new, with remodeled areas for PE and performing arts. Using the principles laid out in the Ed Specs, the design team created site and budget-specific design solutions. The $34M project has been completed using CM/GC delivery and the ribbon cutting of the major addition took place in the winter of 2021, with the renovation, demolition, and site work to be completed the following year.
